Sewing kit box; wooden; an implement card lined in purple fabric; an ivory needle holder; an ivory fid; a star shaped ivory tool; key to the box. Although the sewing machine was created in 1755, it would take more than a century to enter households. Given this, sewing kits were an essential tool for repairing clothing, uniforms, and so on in the mid 1800s. |
